Professor Bailey is Back: The Tech Tea with Kimberly

As much as I tried to avoid it, I think I really love teaching. It is a free form of creativity for me, so I am happy to be doing it again at Christina Brothers University. The online format is different, but I am still enjoying this role.

Tech degrees allow you to do so many things. It truly is no limit to the doors that can open by being a tech professional

Last week we focused on ethics and privacy along with information security. These were some hot topics that I need to make sure I know about in my consulting career too. The students found some interesting news about Okta and Apple last week. Google it and see what you find.

It is cool when your career overlaps. I like it when what I teach also teaches me.

Here are some of the things talked about in IT Security in 2021 that anyone interested in the topic should get familiar with. Thank me later because they are still relevant today:

  • GDPR and CCPA

  • Phishing

  • Cybersecurity skills gap

  • Cloud security issues

  • Automation and integration

  • Mobile devices

  • State-backed cyber attacks

  • IoT devices

  • AI and ML

  • Transport Infrastructure

  • 5G

  • Attacks from inside

  • Sandboxing

  • Cyber risk insurance

I am happy to be traveling again. I spent last week in Minneapolis in strategic planning sessions. I saw great leadership and collaboration. It was exciting to be a part of plans for the future.

I'm in Atlanta this week. I will be a panelist at the upcoming ITSMF conference. Speaking was another vision board item for me along with consulting. I think I will keep the vision board thing happening.

I haven't recommended a tea in a while, so I guess I will share what I have been drinking.

Ginger-Turmeric Herbal Tea

  • 2 cups water

  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric

  • ½ teaspoon chopped fresh ginger

  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1 lemon wedge

It has been keeping me healthy during these uncertain times.
