Time for Something New: The Tech Tea with Kimberly

I really enjoy listening to the radio in my car. I love that when I don't like what is playing, I can just change the station to something else that I enjoy.

BTW: I sing out loud in the car by myself. I don't care who is watching.

Now that a lot of healing has taken place and my mom is doing better, I am ready to embark on one of my vision board items...Consulting.

I put consulting on my vision board at the beginning of 2021, and it is happening for me. I am super excited about the multiple consulting opportunities that have come my way. I will be using my 25+ years of IT experience and my former IT roles to help transform how organizations utilize technology.

I thought when I became the CIO for the City of Memphis, it was the finished puzzle. Little did I know, it was only another piece of the puzzle. This new piece is more of what counts and less of the things that never mattered.

I was in a meeting recently listening to a high-ranking executive. He said, "In this company, we do not care about titles, we care about each other and helping everyone succeed." I went on mute so that they wouldn't hear me yell HALLELUJAH! When you have been inundated by ranks and superiority, it is a breath of fresh air to interact with those who are intelligent for real and don't try to use a title to make up for what they really don't know.

I will be taking you on my consulting journey and looking at tech from a different lens. I anticipate exciting things to come as I change the station on how I work and embark on something new.

Since my last blog, I had my 50th birthday celebration. It was amazing and I want to share the video with my Tech Tea family. My daughter did a fantastic job planning this for me!

Change Management is key right now. Make sure you have a solid change management plan before you proceed with any major technology changes. If you need any help with this, let me know.

If you have recently gotten a raise, be sure to check out Get Good with Money by Tiffany Aliche. It has some amazing tips.

Until next time and HAPPY WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH.
